Arley Curtz Pipes
A native of Utah, Arley G. Curtz graduated from the University of Utah, then went on to obtain his Masters of Museum Practice Program at the University of Michigan and the Henry Ford Museum. This led to a professional career in museum/art gallery management and arts administration from which he retired in 2005. Mr. Curtz is also a trained painter and photographer.
After building a large collection of 500 plus pipes over the years, in 2001 he began making pipes. He is essentially a self-trained pipe maker and aside from creating between 70 - 80 pipes a year, he also works part time as the pipe repairman at Jeanie's Smoke Shop in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Curtz's pipes exhibit a wide range of stylistic approaches. His goal is to combine design and shape with structural elements that results in a fine smoking pipe. Mr. Curtz states that "I am particularly interested in creating pipes that successfully work on three levels. Pleasing shape, functional integrity and good value."
We are extremely pleased to feature Mr. Curtz's work on our website and hope you garner as much favor with them as we have.
