Kaywoodie
"KB&B" in a clover, BAKELITE
After speaking with Bill Feuerbach III I was able to find the history of this unsmoked Kaywoodie Bakelite which dates to the early 1920's. This is a medium billiard manufactured by Kaufman Brothers and Bondy Co. also known as KBB. The stem is made of Bakelite hence the nomenclature stamping on the shank. The screw in tenon appears to be made of some type of bone and screws directly into the shank. The button of the stem with a round hole drilled in the end is further evidence of pipes manufactured from this era.
If you are a Kaywoodie collector, this is indeed a very rare find. There are some dings and indentations on the bowl from wear over the years, but the pipe remains in its original condition which is excellent and unsmoked.
